Grey Blending & Regrowth Softening in Subiaco
Soften the line between grey and the rest of your hair, with no hard regrowth band to chase every four weeks.
Blended, not blocked out
Full grey coverage is one answer to going grey. It is not the only one, and for a lot of people it is not the right one, because the moment it is on, you are committed to a root touch-up every four weeks, and the line between the colour and the new growth gets harder to hide every year.
Grey blending takes the opposite approach. Instead of painting the grey out, we soften it into the hair around it, so the greys read as dimension and lightness rather than as a stripe down your part. The result is closer to how your hair looked before the grey arrived, and it grows out without a line.
It is also the honest option if you are thinking about growing your grey out altogether. Blending is what makes that transition wearable, rather than something you have to hide under a hat for a year.
What's involved
The variations we offer within grey blending, and what each one is for.
Grey blending
Softening the greys into your natural colour so they read as brightness through the hair rather than a band at the root. Keeps its shape as it grows instead of announcing itself.
Regrowth softening
For hair that has been fully covered for years and now has a hard line to manage. We break that line up gradually so the demarcation stops being the first thing anyone sees.
NATULIQUE Liquid Colours
A liquid tone worked through for toning, glossing and blending. It sits on the hair without laying down a solid root, which is what keeps the regrowth soft.
Transitioning to natural grey
A staged plan to get you off the four-weekly root appointment and onto your own colour, blended at every step so there is never an obvious growing-out phase.
Why NATULIQUE Liquid Colours
Liquid Colours are the part of the NATULIQUE range we reach for most in this service. They are built for toning, glossing and blending rather than for solid coverage, which is exactly why they work here: they refresh and even out the colour without creating the harsh regrowth line that a permanent root application leaves behind.
That makes them a beautiful transition colour. If you are moving from full coverage towards your natural grey, or you are considering colour for the first time and are not ready to commit to the upkeep, this is the gentlest way in. You get tone, shine and evenness, and you keep your options open.
They run on the same low-tox, certified-organic-ingredient basis as the rest of the NATULIQUE line, so nothing about choosing the gentler option means settling for a worse product on your scalp. There is a full page on Liquid Colours in the services menu if you want the detail: what they do, what they will not do, and how long they hold.
How we work- No hard line
- blended through the hair rather than banded at the root
- Tone & gloss
- the same liquid colour refreshes shine between appointments
- First colour
- a gentle place to start if you have never coloured
- Grows out soft
- no four-weekly root appointment to commit to
How the appointment runs
So you know what you are walking into, and roughly how long to allow.
-
Consultation
We look at how much grey you have, where it sits, and what your hair has had on it before. How grey is distributed matters as much as how much of it there is. A concentrated patch at the front is a different job from an even scattering.
-
Choosing the approach
Blending, softening an existing line, or a staged transition to natural. We will tell you honestly which one fits what you have asked for, and how many appointments it takes.
-
Application
Liquid colour worked through, with the placement doing the work, diffused where the grey is heaviest rather than laid flat across the root. Organic coffee or a herbal tea while it processes.
-
Gloss & home care
A gloss to finish, then what to use at home to hold the tone, and a realistic interval before the next one.
Grey Blending questions
The things people ask us most about this service.
What is the difference between grey blending and grey coverage?
Coverage paints the grey out completely, so you get a solid, uniform colour and a root line to maintain every four to six weeks. Blending softens the grey into the hair around it, so it reads as dimension rather than being hidden. Blending grows out without a line and needs far less upkeep, but it does not give you an all-over solid colour. Which is right depends on how much grey you have and how much maintenance you want.
How much grey can you blend?
Blending works best up to roughly half grey, and it depends on where the grey sits as much as how much there is. Beyond that, blending starts to look like a lighter version of what you already have, which some people love. We will be straight with you at consultation about what your hair will give you.
Can you help me grow out my colour and go grey naturally?
Yes, and it is one of the things we are asked most. Done well it is a staged process rather than one appointment. We blend the line, let it move down and blend again, so there is never a point where you have an obvious two-tone head of hair. It takes patience, but you are not hiding at any stage of it.
I have never coloured my hair. Is grey blending a good place to start?
It is the gentlest place to start. A NATULIQUE Liquid Colour tones and glosses without committing you to a root line, so if you decide colour is not for you, there is nothing to grow out. A lot of first-time clients start here.
How often will I need it done?
Usually every six to ten weeks, which is a good deal less often than a full coverage regrowth. Because there is no hard line, going a little over does not leave you stuck.
